What do you feel are some of the biggest challenges facing private practices and/or providers today?
I feel like one of the biggest challenges providers face today is lack of time. I believe providers are busier than they have ever been. We live in a society where it is encouraged to shop for the best of everything, the best price, the best product, the best doctor, etc. So providers are now encouraged to be faster and more efficient when seeing patients, order tests and prescribe medications that are covered by a certain insurance, document in a way to meet certain standards and programs, and educate patients on their diagnoses and treatment. There just isn’t enough time in the day to get it all done. That’s where we come in. BlueFish can help practices provide the level of care desired beyond the office visit.
What is your area of passion when it comes to improving healthcare?
Education, education, education. I am a firm believer that if a patient truly understood what was going on in their body and the best ways to help improve the symptoms or the illness, they would be more compliant with their treatment which would lead to improved health. This might include a better understanding of the benefits or risks of certain foods they consume. Not many people want to be told to watch their diet but if we could get into the details of what helps and what hurts, I think we would see changes being made. The same thing goes for medication options, exercise programs, community resources available, etc. Giving our patients the tools they need to make the right decisions for their health is one of my deepest passions.
Give me your take on how BlueFish can help a practice and its patients.
Partnering with BlueFish can help reduce the pressures that private practices and providers are experiencing with the changes in healthcare. Our services address time management challenges and provide the education needed to the staff and patients to improve healthcare. From using our revenue cycle management team to boost the clinic’s finances, software implementation to enhance documentation, consulting services to help meet required standards and my favorite, chronic care management to educate and encourage patients to be compliant with their prescribed treatment.
Why is overseeing the BlueFish CCM service such a good fit for you?
My passion truly is education. I love to learn and I love to help people learn. Chronic care management allows us to spend that one on one time with patients to answer questions about their health care, encourage treatment compliance, evaluate results and build relationships. We are their accountability partners. They know we are going to call and ask them if they are taking their medications as prescribed, if they are following their diet and exercise program and just how they are feeling overall. We have been able to see incredible results with this program which is so exciting and rewarding. CCM allows us to educate patients on how to improve their health and we get the privilege of building relationships and seeing amazing results.
